We have often been told that consuming high amounts of dairy products including milk can be bad for your health. However, a recent study led by the University of Reading disputes this. The research published in the International Journal of Obesity, studied 2 million people from the United States and Britain. It found that people who regularly drank high amounts of milk had lower levels of both good and bad cholesterol. High cholesterol can lead to health issues including blocked arteries, heart attacks or strokes. The team also found that those individuals who regularly drunk milk had a 14% lower risk of coronary heart disease. The study did also note that there was a small increase in BMI levels of milk drinkers compared to non-milk drinkers.

Drinking milk has many other benefits, it is jam packed full of nutrients. It contains Potassium, Vitamin A, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Magnesium and Zinc. It’s a great source of Protein, healthy fats and antioxidants. We have always been told that drinking milk is great for your bones and teeth, but there really are a whole host of health benefits.

Many other benefits of drinking milk have been suggested, including that it may help to neutralize toxins in the body. It can be a great source of energy. Drinking milk is also said to hydrate your skin and potentially reduce lines and wrinkles, as well as being good for your eyes and hair. It can help with controlling blood pressure and research carried out by Harvard University even suggests it can help with maintaining fertility. Finally, that cup of hot milk before bed, really could help you sleep better.
